Visa
The Embassy and Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Brussels issues visas to individuals residing in, and applying from Belgium and Luxembourg. Due to regulatory constraints, we can only issue single entry visas valid for a one-month stay. Those wishing to stay longer in Afghanistan can apply to the Directorate General of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in Kabul for an extension of their visa.
Under exceptional circumstances, double and multiple entry visas for a period of up to three months can be issued to holders of diplomatic passports, members of the armed forces from the above countries, government employees, officials of the European Union and NATO travelling on official visits, provided that compelling reasons are presented.
Applications for visas can only be made in person. Applications will be processed in order of their receipt by the Consular Section. Applications that are incomplete or missing necessary documentation will not be processed.
Checklist of Requirements
All applicants must submit the following documents as part of their application package:
The payment is not refunded even when the application is rejected. Grant or refusal of the visa is at the sole discretion of the embassy.
All consular charges are only payable in Euros and by electronic means only (No Cash accepted).
- Single Entry Visa (duration 30 days): 100€
- Single Entry Visa (Urgent, duration 30 days): 200€
- Tourist Visa (duration 30 days): 80€
- Business Visa (Single Entry, duration 30 days): 100€
- Business Visa (Multiple Entry, duration 90 days): 200€
- Business Visa (Multiple Entry, duration 6 months): 400€
- Business Visa (Multiple Entry, duration 1 year): 800€
- Business Visa (Multiple Entry, duration 2 years): 2000€
Visa Processing Time
Due to the implementation of a new visa issuing system, visa applicants are kindly request to allow 12 to 14 days for the visa to be issued.
After the Embassy has received completed application(s) with all the necessary documents and payments, visa will be issued within ten to fifteen working days.
Note: Journalist visas will take about two-three weeks to process and issue, so please apply well in advance.
How to apply
Provided that you have met all the required documents, please visit the Afghan Embassy from Monday to Friday between 09:00am till 12:00pm in person and submit your application form, original passport along with required documents.

As per the new regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visas other than Tourist Visa, can only be issued based on the invitation from Kabul, processed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.

- The applicant’s passport (passports must have at least six months validity period left).
- Two standard passport size photos, affixed to the appropriate box on the application form (photos must be identical, recent, color on white background, taken directly off the face and show both ears).
- Applicants travelling for employment or business purposes must provide documentation from their present or prospective employer, or other organization concerned verifying purpose of visit.
- Visa processing fee (see the fees table below).
